When creating an email in Workshop, you can click to ‘preview’ your email to review it before sending.
The preview that is provided in Workshop is a preview of your email on the web (aka how your email will look on a browser page). A web version can still have small differences in design & layout in relation to what your recipients actually receive in their inbox.
Why are there differences between what I see on the web & what someone sees in their email?
Behind the scenes, web and email designs are built using HTML and CSS. How that HTML and/or CSS is rendered (or translated) into an email can be different depending on what email application or device type the recipient is viewing the email within.
For instance, what someone sees can be different between:
- Web and email
- Outlook and Gmail
- iOS or Android device
We recommend that you always send a test email before you send your email out to its recipients. This ensures you can verify the majority of use cases for how your email will be received by your recipients.
If you would like to more thoroughly test your email across different email clients or device types, we recommend utilizing a tool such as Email on Acid (https://www.emailonacid.com/).
