To set up time zone sending within your Workshop account, you need to have the right user attributes available to you in Workshop.
There are three types of data sets that Workshop supports for time zone sending:
- IANA formatted time zone (America/Chicago, Australia/Brisbane) - this is the most accurate way to configure time zone
- Postal code + country (Workshop supports the various postal code formats seen worldwide and two or three letter abbreviations for country e.g US or USA) - this is pretty accurate
- Country - this is the least accurate, with this information we can set a time zone that is within the employee’s country but is not their specific time zone
See all of the formats that Workshop supports for these attribute values here.
Workshop supports two ways for this data to be uploaded to your Workshop account:
- Send this data to Workshop from your data source - Azure AD, Okta, HRIS, etc
- CSV Upload
Send this data to Workshop from your data source
Workshop recommends sending this data to Workshop from your data source - Azure AD, Okta, HRIS, etc. This method ensures that the data in Workshop stays up to date as new employees are added to your directory or time zones change for employees within your directory. To be able to send from your data source, you will need to determine the following with your IT:
- What data sets (IANA formatted time zone, postal code, country) do we have available to us?
- Where does this data live today in our organization?
- If this data lives outside of the data source we have synced to Workshop, can we upload the data into that data source?
If you have any questions on the above or have the answers to the questions above, please reach out to Workshop Support to assist you with next steps on getting this data into Workshop.
CSV Upload
If your company is unable to send these data attributes to Workshop from your data source, you can utilize a CSV Upload. This method is the quickest way to implement time zone sending in your account but it does require ongoing maintenance & management as employees are added to your directory or time zones change for employees within your directory.
To utilize Workshop’s CSV upload, you will:
- Create a CSV file
- Read more about the proper format for your CSV file
- Navigate to People > Directory
- Click Import
- Upload your CSV file & review
- Within the Finish Import screen, we recommend just importing your new time zone fields so update the ‘Fields to be imported’
- You do not need to create a list during this CSV upload
