What is a template?
Templates are pre-built email designs you can reuse as starting points for new emails. Instead of building from scratch every time, templates let you apply a consistent layout, structure, and branding across your communications. Workshop's template library includes both templates you've created yourself and ones shared across your team.
Finding and browsing templates
You can access templates by navigating to Templates in the top navigation. The left sidebar organizes templates into three views:
- My templates — Templates you've personally created or saved
- Shared with me — Templates that other users in your account have shared with you
- Template library — A curated collection of pre-built starting points available to everyone in your account
If you also have Workshop Pages - templates will be separated by type using the Email and Page tabs at the top of the template grid.
You can filter your templates by type and status using the dropdowns in the upper right, and use the search bar to find a specific template by name.
Cloning a template
Cloning creates an editable copy of any template that you can modify without affecting the original.
To clone a template:
- Hover over the template you want to clone.
- Choose Clone.
- In the Clone template modal, enter a new name for the cloned template.
- If your template was created on the Legacy Editor, you’ll see an option to select an editor version. Choose Modern editor to access AI-generated content, real-time collaboration, and all new editor features going forward.
- Optionally expand Share access to control who can see the cloned template.
- Select Clone or Clone & edit to open it immediately.
Once cloned, the template will appear under My templates and is ready to edit or use as the basis for a new email.
