Choosing your subdomain

Before you can host Pages on your own domain, you'll need to select a subdomain to use.

  • Most organizations choose something branded and easy to recognize, such as comms.yourcompany.com or news.yourcompany.com.
  • This subdomain will be created (if it doesn't already exist) and dedicated specifically to Page hosting.
  • Choose a subdomain your team is comfortable using publicly, since it will appear in all shared Page links going forward.

Setting up your CNAME record

Once you've selected a subdomain, you'll need to point it to Workshop's infrastructure using a CNAME DNS record.

  • Your IT or DNS administrator will need to create this record.
  • The CNAME should point your chosen subdomain to Workshop's hosting infrastructure.
  • This step is typically completed in your domain registrar or DNS provider's settings (e.g., GoDaddy, Cloudflare, Route 53).

Tip: DNS changes can take some time to propagate. It's a good idea to set this up as early as possible in the process.

Submitting your subdomain

After your subdomain is selected and the CNAME record is in place:

  1. Share the exact subdomain you'll be using with your Workshop contact.
  2. Confirm that the CNAME DNS record has been successfully set.

Please Note: 
- It is recommended that an IT or DNS Admin is consulted to ensure the correct subdomain is selected and available.  
- Activation cannot begin until both the subdomain and confirmation of the DNS record have been provided.
 

Activation process

Once your subdomain and DNS confirmation are received:

  • Workshop's Engineering Team will enable hosting for your subdomain

Confirmation and go-live

Once activation is complete:

  • You'll receive confirmation that your Pages are now live and hosted at your selected subdomain.
  • From this point forward, all published Pages will be accessible under your custom subdomain.
