What is the table feature?
The modern editor includes a native table block you can add to any text block in your email. Tables are useful for comparing plans, breaking down costs, or presenting any information that's easier to scan in a grid than in paragraphs.
Note: This is different from the legacy editor, where tables live in the blocks drawer as their own block type. In the modern editor, tables are inserted directly from the text toolbar, from within a heading or paragraph block.
Inserting a table
To insert a table:
- Click into a paragraph or heading block in your email.
- In the text toolbar above the block, select More.
- Select the table icon.
-
Use the visual grid picker to choose how many rows and columns you want. Hover to preview the size (for example, 4 columns by 5 rows), then click to insert.
Your table is inserted with a plain white background and gray borders. However, you can style it to your preference once it's in place.
Adding and editing content
Click into any cell to start typing. You can move between cells the same way you would in any spreadsheet or document table.
Tip: If you're starting from AI-generated content, you can ask the AI tool to draft the table copy for you, then insert a table and paste or retype the content into the cells.
Styling text, backgrounds, and colors
Once your table has content, you can style it just like any other text block:
- Highlight a row, column, or individual cells to apply formatting.
- Use the toolbar to bold text, change the font, or adjust font size.
- With cells highlighted, open the background color option to fill the selection with a color — useful for header rows or zebra striping (alternating row colors) to make long tables easier to read.
- Use the text color option in the toolbar to change font color — for example, switching to white text on a dark background row.
Color pickers include your brand colors for quick, on-brand styling, plus a hex field if you need an exact match.
Aligning content within cells
Select the row, column, or cells you want to adjust, then use the alignment tools in the toolbar to left-align, center, or right-align the content — helpful for numeric data like pricing or percentages.
Reordering rows and columns
Hover over a row or column to reveal its drag handle, then click and drag to move it to a new position. This works for both rows and columns, so you can rearrange your table structure at any time without rebuilding it.
Adding or deleting rows and columns
Select the table settings icon in the top corner of the table or in the text toolbar at the top to open the table menu. From here you can:
- Insert row above or Insert row below
- Delete rows
- Insert column left or Insert column right
- Delete columns
- Adjust cell background and table border settings
Note: To delete rows or columns, select the row(s) or column(s) first, then choose Delete rows or Delete columns from the menu. Deleting an entire table by placing your cursor inside it and pressing backspace isn't supported yet.
A finished, styled table
With formatting applied — a colored header row, zebra striping, centered numeric columns, and a custom font — your table is ready to send.
Please note:
- There's currently no one-click way to delete an entire table from your cursor position — you'll need to select and delete rows and columns individually.
