What are styles?
Styles let you establish your brand standards — colors, fonts, sizes, and more — before you start building an email or template. Once set, any content you drag into the editor automatically uses those standards, so you don't have to manually adjust formatting section by section.
Styles also work in conjunction with your brand kit, pulling in your specified brand assets and company mandated colors and text types automatically.
Note: Set your styles before you build out your email whenever possible. This saves time and keeps your content consistent from the start.
Finding the Styles panel
- In the email editor, look at the left-hand navigation.
- Select Styles — the paint palette icon located just below the Build tab.
From here, you'll see style categories you can expand and adjust: Email, Text, Link, Button, Padding, and Divider.
Setting email styles
Under Email, you can adjust the settings that apply to your email as a whole:
- Background color
- Body color
- Content width
Setting text styles
Text is the most detailed style section. It lets you adjust any text type you drag into your email, including Heading 1 through Heading 4 and Paragraph text. Each text type is adjusted separately, so you'll want to set Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Heading 4, and Paragraph individually.
For each text type, you can adjust:
- Font family
- Text size and line height
- Text color
Note: Apply style when pasting is turned on by default. When it's enabled, content pasted in from another email or an outside source — such as a Google Doc — automatically takes on your established text styling.
Setting link styles
Under Link, you can adjust your link color, apply bold, italic, or underline formatting, and choose whether to apply this style when pasting content.
Setting button styles
Under Button, you have the most extensive set of style options, including:
- Font size and font family
- Bold, italic, and underline formatting
- Text color, text direction, and letter spacing
- Button color, width, size, and shape
- Border and alignment
Setting padding styles
Under Padding, you can adjust the spacing around your row and block content. By default, changes apply evenly to all sides — disable Apply to all sides to adjust spacing on a side-by-side basis instead.

Setting divider styles
Under Divider, you can adjust the alignment, height, color, line type, and width of any dividers you add to your email.
Applying your styles to existing content
If you bring in a separate template, or make content changes before establishing your styles, you can apply your saved styles to that content after the fact.
- At the top of the Styles panel, select the paintbrush icon.
- Choose Apply all styles to update every section of your email, or select Apply specific styles to target only the areas that don't match your current styling.
Once your styles have been applied, the paintbrush icon disappears. It reappears only if you make further changes that don't match your saved styles, letting you know you'll need to apply your styles again.
Tip: The paintbrush icon is a quick way to check whether any content in your email is out of sync with your saved styles — if you don't see it, everything matches.
