Check which editor an email uses
Every email in your account is built in either the modern editor or the legacy editor. You can see which version any email uses directly from your email index page.
- Go to Email in the top navigation.
- On the Regular or Automated tab, find the Editor column.
- Each row shows Modern or Legacy, depending on which editor was used to build that email.
Tip: Click the Editor column header to sort your list and group all legacy emails together — this makes it easy to find emails that still need to move to the modern editor.
Cloning legacy email into the legacy editor
If you have an existing email built in the legacy editor, you don't need to rebuild it from scratch. Cloning it will default to the modern editor, but you can choose to utlize the legacy editor instead.
- From your email index page, hover over the legacy email you want to update.
- Select the 3-dot menu on the right.
- Choose Clone.
- In the Clone email window, confirm the email type and enter a new email name.
- Under Editor version, select the dropdown menu under "Editor version" and select the legacy editor.
- Select Clone to save a draft, or Clone & edit to open it in the modern editor right away.
Note: Cloning a legacy email always defaults to the modern editor. The original legacy email is not changed or removed — you'll end up with a new, separate draft.
Choose the legacy editor for a new email
New emails default to the modern editor, but you can still choose the legacy editor if you'd prefer to build from an existing legacy template.
- Select Create email.
- Choose Regular or Automated as your email type.
- On the Choose editor version screen, select Continue to the legacy editor instead of Use the modern editor.
Select a legacy template from My templates, Shared with me, or the Template library — or start from scratch.
Note: Workshop is no longer adding new features to the legacy editor. Any new functionality going forward will only be available in the modern editor.
