You will learn
- How to add Workshop as a custom connector in Claude
- How to sign in and approve access to your Workshop account
- What Claude can do once Workshop is connected
- How to set tool permissions for the connector
- How to fix common connection problems
Before you start
You'll need:
- The Claude desktop app, or Claude access at claude.ai
- A Workshop account you can sign in to
Open your connector settings
- Click your name in the bottom-left corner of Claude.
- Select Settings. You can also press ⌘ , on Mac.
- In the left sidebar under Customize, click Connectors.
Add Workshop as a custom connector
- Click Add in the top-right corner.
- Select Add custom connector.
- Fill in the two fields:
- Name:
Workshop - URL:
https://mcp.useworkshop.com/mcp
- Name:
- Click Continue.
Confirm the connection settings
Claude checks the server and picks the right settings for you. Both are marked Detected.
- Authentication: Leave Sign in now selected. You'll sign in to Workshop before you can use any tools.
- OAuth client: Leave Use Claude's published identity selected. You don't need to set anything up.
You can leave Request headers and Advanced alone. Click Add.
Note: Don't change these settings unless someone on your IT or engineering team tells you to.
Sign in and approve access
The Workshop connector page opens with the message "You're not connected to Workshop yet."
- Click Connect. Your browser opens.
- On the Finish connecting a connector? screen, click Continue connecting.
- Sign in to Workshop if it asks you to.
- On the Connect to Workshop screen, review what Claude will be able to do, then click Approve access.
- Workshop sends you back to claude.ai. If the Finish connecting a connector? screen comes up again, click Continue connecting.
- Go back to the Claude desktop app.
Note: That confirmation screen exists to keep your account safe. Only click Continue connecting if you started the connection from Claude yourself. A link someone sends you can't connect anything to your account.
What Claude can do with Workshop
After you approve access, Claude can:
- Ask Workshop: Ask questions about your company's Workshop data. Cici answers them.
- Draft Workshop Email: Create email drafts in your Workshop account with Cici's help.
Note: Claude can't send or publish emails. Drafts stay in Workshop until you review and send them.
Set tool permissions
Once you're connected, the Workshop page in Settings > Connectors shows a Tool permissions section. You can choose when Claude is allowed to use each tool.
| Tool | Type | Default |
|---|---|---|
| Ask Workshop | Read-only | Always allow |
| Draft Workshop Email | Write/delete | Needs approval |
Each tool has three options:
- Always allow (checkmark): Claude uses the tool without asking.
- Needs approval (hand): Claude asks you each time before it uses the tool.
- Blocked (circle with a line through it): Claude can't use the tool.
Note: Your admin may have turned off Always allow for Cowork. When that's the case, Claude asks for approval in Cowork. Always allow still works in Chat.
Try it out
Open a new chat and ask Claude something about your Workshop data. For example:
- "Ask Workshop how many emails we sent last month."
- "Use Workshop to draft an email announcing our new PTO policy."
If Claude asks for approval, review the request and click Allow.
